How to find where a photo was taken
Most phones save the GPS location inside every photo. This tool reads it and shows you the exact place, the coordinates and even the direction the camera was facing.
If a photo has no location, it tells you why — for example, because it was sent through a messaging app.
Why use it?
- Find the place of an old photo or a trip you forgot.
- Check whether a photo reveals your home before you share it.
- See many photos on one map and export the places as GPX or CSV.
- Private: the photo is read on your device and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my photo have no location?
Location may have been switched off for the camera, or it was removed by WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram or a screenshot.
How exact is the location?
As exact as the phone’s GPS when the photo was taken — usually within a few meters, less exact indoors.
Can it find the location of any picture from the internet?
Only if the location is still saved in the file. Most websites and social networks remove it.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The location is read in your browser, and the map loads only if you allow it.
