What does geotagging a photo mean?
Geotagging means saving a GPS location inside a photo. Photo apps such as Google Photos, Apple Photos or Lightroom can then show it on a map.
This tool adds or changes the location of your photos. Pick a place on the map, search for it or paste coordinates. JPEG photos keep their full quality.
Why geotag photos?
- Put camera photos or scans without GPS on the map.
- Fix a wrong location saved by your phone.
- Sort travel albums, property or site photos by place.
- Private: your photos stay on your device and are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
Does geotagging lower the photo quality?
No. In JPEG photos only the location data changes — the picture itself is copied as it is.
Can I remove a location?
Yes. Select the photo and click Remove location. To remove all hidden data, use the metadata remover.
Do I have to use the map?
No. You can also search for a place or paste coordinates. The map is loaded from OpenStreetMap only if you allow it.
Which formats are supported?
JPEG photos are changed directly. PNG, WebP and AVIF photos are saved as high-quality JPEG.
